What to do with all those sample sew outs that you have? Make greeting cards:
You can use these cards for embroidery, cross stitch or for giving that special moment in time.
You can hand write your sentiment inside the card or print it out on the computer. You can download free
instructions for printing on the cards from my web site at the above address. I also have free templates that can be downloaded for Printmaster Platinum 7 and 10
Please! Please! Please! Print samples out before you print on your card. Using the computer to
print on the card is tricky, so please use a sheet of paper cut to 7" wide to practice printing on. Follow the directions carefully. If you don't, You may ruin your card.
Not all printers print the same. My instructions are for Epson's series 600 and up. I am not sure
about less expensive front load printers. I tried an HP and it jammed. Also, not all printers will allow you to request to customize your paper size. ( In printing the inside of a tall card, you need
to be able to tell your printer to print 7 x 15.3 to print properly. ) If you can't customize the size of the paper, you will need to play around with placing you sentiment, to get it to print properly.
When you do a wide card, print your sentiment first and then put the design in the card making sure you
face it in the right direction when you open your card. It is real easy to put the design in up side down.
If you use the computer to print your sentiment, you need to do this prior to putting in the design. I will go over this later.
You can put you sentiment on a separate piece of paper and then glue in or tie in with a ribbon.
I like to use transparent paper this gives a rich professional look.
To print your sentiment on a sheet of paper or vellum.
Go into your card program and choose ½ fold card, then choose inside of card.
Type your sentiment on the left side centered, then tell you printer to print the inside of the card only. Print on
a sample piece of paper prior to printing on the vellum. Be sure to let the vellum dry so it doesn't smear. You may also need to print as an inkjet transparency under paper type so the ink doesn't smear.
Fold the sheet in half. Place the paper inside of the card. Turn the card over and draw a pencil mark on the
paper around the outside of the card and cut on this line.
Place the sheet back inside the card and glue the back first and then put a strip of glue on the outside edge
of the inside of your card and press flat or just glue down the fold of the card or tie with a ribbon.
You're finished. Sign the card and send it.
** You may leave the sheet loose and tie it with a ribbon. This is especially nice with parchment paper or the
vellum that was mentioned above. I sell the vellum paper but it is not listed on my site yet (12 sheets for
$6.00). I also have mats for the large oval cards which gives it a double mat look. They are elegant and I sell them 5 mixed colors for $3.00
If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me and I will try to help.
