Fun Projects with Die Cut Picture Cards!

PGS Specialties Projects

The dogwood vest is from the Sue box Golden classic collection.  I cut and pasted parts of the designs collection and combined them to create a sweep that would go from the front of the vest up over the sholder and across the back to the front.  This was a fun project and the only stabilizer that I used was 1 layer of Wash-Away sprayed with KK-2000. I printed out all of my templates and had them placed and marked them on the vest, hoped and embroidered. It took about two days complete.

Purple vest- This vest was made using Cindy Losekamp's  Garden Delights collection. The heart on the back was in two hoopings and I embroidered it in the 6 x 10 hoop. The same designs are in the Tiny Gardens collection only you have to insert all of the smaller design to create this one big design. I chose to take the easy way out since Cindy already did the work, why reinvent the wheel as I was happy with her layout. Both sets are wonderful it is just that with the Garden Delights Cindy has already combined the designs for you and with the tiny gardens you do your own designing.

This card was done using Cindy's losekamp's designs from her Secluded Serenity Book. I combined the designs in my software so two of the designs would be drifted off on to the card to create a unique and different look.

The above picture (Bart and Dianne) is from Betty's Sunset Threads which I embroidered on organza (which is my most favorite fabric to use to make cards) and I took one of Cindy Losekamp's pictures from the Secluded Serenity book and printed it out so it looks like they are walking down a path.  This gives a real unique look and the only stabilizer I use is 1 layer of Wash-Away with my organza. Design from www.bettysunsetthreads.com

These two  card were done by using the built in stitches of your sewing machine and sewing around the oval.  This takes a bit of practice so take one of the cards and draw around the oval on a piece of index paper and then practice sewing around the oval to get the hang of it. It really is worth the effort and it takes a plain card and really dresses it up. The designs are from Skeldale House and I added the words Bridal Shower to the umbrella. This card was done using designs from Betty Sunset Threads using 3 designs from her Abigale & Beatrice Collection.  I took a scene and printed it out on fabric and placed it behind the pictue to give a faint shadow effect.  Again I used organza to embroider the design on. Design from www.bettysunsetthreads.com

This design I took one of the designs from the Brother Flower collection and took it into Embird and cut and pasted the top 5 flowers onto the bottom and sewed it out double to give a nice thick frame and then I cut around the inside and glued my picture of my great niece Alyssa.  This is a great way to send out school pictures to your favorite relatives.

This design was embroidered on paper.  Several people asked if this could be done and yes it can.  I also used my built in stitches from my Pfaff to sew around the edges of the oval.  Design by Mareanne  at www.embroiderysa.co.za/itzmedesigns
